NBA: The 25 least deserving Hall of Famers of all-time: 24. Mitch Richmond

Stats: 21 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 3.5 apg

When it comes to scoring the rock, few were better than shooting guard Mitch Richmond. It didn’t matter where or when, if there was a hoop and a basketball, Richmond had no issue scoring.

For ten straight seasons, Richmond scored at least 21 points per game. Along the way, Richmond was selected to six straight All-Star Games. He had a smooth midrange game, was a knockdown shooter from behind the arc, money from the charity stripe, and could muscle anyone out of the way at the basket.

There are a ton of players in the Hall of Fame that earned their spot amongst the game’s greats by scoring at a ridiculous clip. But, Richmond’s offensive prowess had little to no effect on the wins and losses column.

During his prime, Richmond’s squads made only three playoff runs and they weren’t very deep. At the age of 36, Richmond did win an NBA title with the Los Angeles Lakers. But, he averaged just 1.5 points per game. He did little to nothing to contribute to that title. Yet, somehow, he earned a Hall of Fame spot by mostly scoring during games that he lost.
