NBA: The 25 least deserving Hall of Famers of all-time: 3. Al Cervi

Stats: 7.9 ppg, 3.2 apg, 1.8 rpg

Making the Hall of Fame shouldn’t come down solely to the numbers. But, that doesn’t mean they aren’t important.

No matter which way you want to slice it, Al Cervi has some of the most horrific numbers in NBA History. And no, that isn’t hyperbole either.

Please, maybe we’re missing something but after spending only a handful of years in the league, how is Cerci a Hall of Famer? He averaged 7.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists while shooting 35.9% from the field.

Maybe his inclusion in the Hall is a direct reflection of how bad the talent was at the time. For instance, during the 1949-50 season, Cervi made an All-NBA team despite averaging just 10.2 points per game while shooting 33.2% from the field.

Still, whether the league was in bad shape or not, we refuse to let Cervi slide into the Hall of Fame. He simply doesn’t deserve to be there.
