NBA: The 25 least deserving Hall of Famers of all-time: 17. Zelmo Beaty

Stats: 17.1 ppg, 10.9 rpg

From the moment Zelmo Beaty made his way into the league in the early 1960s, he was a bring your hard hat to work kind of guy. He wasn’t an overwhelming scorer in his first three seasons, averaging 10.2, 13.1, and 16.9 points per game.

After getting his feet wet, he turned into a bonafide scorer on the inside. Beaty would go on to average over 20 points per game in five of the next six seasons. Along the way, Beaty helped the Utah Stars grab a title. He played his part as well, averaging 23.2 points per game and 14.6 boards during that playoff run.

Still, Beaty’s best was pretty transient. He had plenty more seasons of play in which he was considered a solid but not great player. We aren’t the only ones who share those thoughts. Beaty was named to just two NBA All-Star Games, three ABA All-Star squads, and made the All-Rookie First Team in 1963.

All in all, Beaty was solid but placing him amongst the pantheon of all-time greats is pretty ridiculous.
