NBA Trades: Former All-Star point guards who could be moved – John Wall

Like Dragic, John Wall is currently on a rebuilding team that is prioritizing their youth. The guard has not appeared in a game with the Houston Rockets this season, as he and the front office had previously agreed that he would sit out until a trade partner was found.

Obviously, that has not materialized to this point, and it seems like Wall is itching to get back on the court sooner rather than later. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Wall has expressed his desire to return to playing games for the Rockets, but the two sides have not come to an agreement just yet.

Wall has been bombarded by injuries over the past few seasons, but he looked solid in the brief time he saw last year, averaging 20.6 points and 6.9 assists per game. Teams would love to add a five-time All-Star to their roster, but his monstrous salary makes that difficult.

He is on the books for $91 million over the next two seasons, and not too many teams, especially ones in the contending conversation, have that type of money to make a deal work.

In the aforementioned piece by Blakely, he notes that there could be some conversation about a trade involving Wall for Walker, which would be interesting for both sides.

Given how hard a trade for Wall is to envision, teams will likely keep their fingers crossed for a buyout down the line. However, that scenario seems incredibly unlikely due to how much money is left on Wall’s current salary, but only time will tell if things change down the line.
