Week 6 NBA Power Rankings: 29. Houston Rockets (3-16)

Rank last week: 30th

Last week: (2-1) – @ BOS (L), vs. CHI (W), vs. CHA (W)

Offensive rating: 100.1 (29th in NBA)

Defensive rating: 109.2 (20th in NBA)

The Houston Rockets are finally not the worst team in the NBA… they’re the second-worst. Two solid wins last week propelled them one whole spot up the rankings.

After losing to the Celtics, Houston took down the Bulls and the Hornets – two solid Eastern Conference teams. It was by far their best week of the season, as they had more wins last week than the rest of the year combined.

This recent success comes fresh off of rumors that the team was considering firing head coach Stephen Silas. Apparently, that’s all Silas needed to hear to get his guys into shape.

In other Rockets news, John Wall is also trying to make a comeback this year. He’s no longer interested in sitting out and plans on talking to the organization about re-joining the team.

Season outlook: This recent winning streak is great experience for the younger players on the team to get some confidence. However, this team is still in contention to be the worst team in the NBA this year. It would be a complete shock if they don’t finish with top-three odds at the first overall pick.
