Week 6 NBA Power Rankings: 16. Boston Celtics (10-10)

Rank last week: 11th

Last week: (1-2) – vs. HOU (W), vs. BKN (L), @ SAS (L)

Offensive rating: 105.8 (21st in NBA)

Defensive rating: 105.2 (9th in NBA)

A 2-1 week sees the Boston Celtics drop six spots in the NBA power rankings. The loss to Brooklyn is one thing, but their collapse against the Spurs was downright ugly.

In that game, the C’s got outscored 30-15 in the opening quarter, and were down by 24 at one point. Then, despite a 31-point comeback to go up by seven, they failed to score in the last 3:21 of the game, losing 96-88.

That sort of mess of a game perfectly defines Boston’s season so far. They’ve had great games, bad games, and everything in between, leading to a 10-10 record.

Jaylen Brown has looked rough since his return, and the team is still dealing with some lingering injuries, but they still have to be more consistent if they want to fight for a playoff spot.

Season outlook: This has been a lackluster season in the eyes of most Celtics fans. However, they still sit in a solid position to compete for a top-six spot in the East. With the way they are playing right now, expect them to finish in that 5-8 range in the Eastern Conference.
