NBA: Role Players who could become stars elsewhere

NBA role players who could become stars elsewhere: 27. Lonnie Walker IV
As more of the wings have been brought in, Lonnie Walker IV has found it increasingly difficult to keep his foothold in the Spurs developmental plans. In his fourth season, he has seen his minutes being to diminish for the first time in his career. He is attempting roughly the same number of shots per game as he did a season ago but is making nearly five percent fewer shots per game. This is also the first season he is shooting below 35 percent from distance.
Walker is continuing to develop as a rebounder and playmaker, but something eventually has to give with the Spurs. As they are settling into the rebuilding phase for the first time in decades some of the picks are going to have to be moved on to allow the rest to grow. Josh Primo was drafted in the lottery this season and is currently spending most of his time in the G-League.
Walker needs to get on the court consistently to finally realize exactly what he is capable of. The Spurs need to prioritize the younger wings on their team as they progress through the rebuild. For the best of both, Walker should hope to find himself in a situation that better suits him going forward.
