It isn’t easy being an NBA head coach. Unless you take your team to a championship, it seems like you’re always in the hot seat. You are hired to win; anything short of that is considered a disappointment.
This season is particularly tough for NBA coaches because the competition is so intense. Many teams in the NBA are playing at the top of their abilities.
That means that there are several head coaches who should be feeling the pressure because if they don’t achieve great success, they might be packing their bags and looking for new jobs.
The NBA season is in full swing and there is a big chance that some major firings are coming soon. In fact, just a few days ago, the Sacramento Kings let go of their head coach, Luke Walton. He won’t be the only one relieved of duties before the All-Star break.
Here are just a few NBA coaches who are probably sweating right now.
Top 3 NBA coaches most likely to get fired this season: 1. Stephen Silas, Houston Rockets
With their 2-16 record, the Houston Rockets are currently the worst team in the entire NBA. Therefore, it only makes sense that people wonder if coach Stephen Silas will get the ax before the season is done.
Perhaps the only saving grace for Silas is that no one really expects much from the Rockets this year. It is very obvious that they are in the midst of a massive rebuild that won’t happen overnight. Therefore, the Rockets front office might let Silas work on this experiment for a season or two more before he gets cut.
At the same time, the Rockets might not feel that Silas is working fast enough to foster some of the terrific young talents on the team. You would think it would be hard to find anyone willing to coach a group with such a horrific record, but you would be wrong.
There are plenty of coaches ready to jump in and take Silas’ place. Right now, it’s about a 50-50 chance that he remains through the rest of the season or is replaced by someone else willing to sort through this mess.
Of all the coaches in the NBA, Stephen Silas is currently the one sitting in the hottest seat.
