NBA Rumors: Anthony Edwards calls out Jimmy Butler postgame
By Jack Simone
The Minnesota Timberwolves have won five games in a row and sophomore wing Anthony Edwards deserves a ton of credit for that. He has been playing great basketball as the Wolves attempt to make a push for the playoffs this year.
Edwards has been lights out for the last five games. He’s averaging 22.6 points while shooting 48.9 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from three-point range.
The youngster even submitted his bid for dunk of the year last night, though the jam didn’t end up counting. He postered Miami Heat point guard Gabe Vincent, but it got called an offensive foul.
Minnesota ended up winning that game against the Heat, an impressive victory seeing as the Heat are fighting for the one seed in the East. However, the win did not come without dramatics, and some NBA rumors could potentially emerge.

The third quarter was when things started to heat up for Edwards and the Timberwolves. He went head-to-head with one of the toughest guys in the league (subscription required) – Jimmy Butler.
Edwards got called for a travel and Butler ripped the ball from his hands after the call. The Minnesota sophomore did not take too kindly to that.
Instead of walking away, Edwards went right back at Butler, pushing him in the back. Butler proceeded to get in Edwards’ grill, but the young gun did not back down.
The two stared each other down, and Edwards had some words on the confrontation after the game. He doesn’t really care about all that, because in his eyes, nothing was ever going to come from it.
“He ain’t finna fight nobody out there,” he said. “All that walking up on each other, that’s stuff for the birds, man. I ain’t about to fight. I don’t get into all that. That sh*t be fake.”
Minnesota was able to pick up the win as they continue to march towards a playoff spot. Ironically enough, the last time they made the playoffs was with Butler on the roster.
It was the only time the franchise has reached the playoffs since the 2003-04 season – 17 long years. Edwards and company will be looking to change that.
The Minnesota Timberwolves and Miami Heat face off once more this season, but not until March 12. Maybe then we’ll get to see Anthony Edwards vs. Jimmy Butler 2.0 and see if any more NBA rumors emerge.
