NBA: Ranking the league’s best third options
NBA: Ranking the league’s best third options: 13. Seth Curry, Philadelphia 76ers
With almost a decade in the league, Seth Curry is finally turning into the sort of player that opposing teams have truly have to pay attention to, outside of just his 3-point shooting.
His last name is Curry, so there’s no way Seth wouldn’t have the ability to shoot the lights out. But, for the vast majority of his career, he would camp out behind the line and wait patiently as his team’s best players created all of his shots.
During his two seasons in Dallas, Curry really began turning the corner. Now, behind Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris, Curry has found a perfect spot as the number three scorer on a highly ranked contender.
Even with the absence of Ben Simmons, we still would’ve had Curry slotted nicely into this position simply because, Simmons isn’t much of a scorer. Outside of shooting, Curry isn’t exactly great at much else. He certainly has gotten better at putting the ball on the floor but that isn’t his game.
Still, while a bit on the limited side, especially defensively, the 76ers have a top-five shooter as a third option. That isn’t bad at all.
