NBA Trades: One Ben Simmons trade for every NBA team – Charlotte Hornets

Getting into one of the teams that really should not be involved with the discussion, the Charlotte Hornets already have a ball-dominant guard who is a brilliant passer. On one hand, Simmons would help sure up some of the defensive issues that LaMelo Ball has shown thus far in his career. The cost to get him would not be prohibitive, adding a star-caliber player to a market that has historically been bereft of such.

However, unless the Sixers are interested in the likes of Gordon Hayward (unlikely), then they would be taking back some number of role players to fill out the depth of their roster.

While this may be a winning strategy, it is not the type of move Morey has ever been known to make. He is insistent on adding star-level talent. As good as they would be off the bench for the Sixers, Terry Rozier and Kelly Oubre Jr. are not star-level talent.

This is not the move for either team. The Hornets should be looking at acquiring young talent, but making sure they fit alongside Ball has to be the priority. Ultimately, if the Sixers do not end up with any stars in the deal, chances are they can still do better than this return for Ben Simmons.
