NBA Trades: One Ben Simmons trade for every NBA team – Boston Celtics

This was an idea that was thrown out earlier this season and, while it ruffled plenty of feathers with Boston Celtics fans, it makes sense. Something that has been a trend throughout recent league history is that having both of a team’s top options be wings complicates competing for a title, especially without a true playmaker on the roster.

While it may be too early to make the move away from them as a pair, this could be the right opportunity presenting itself to restructure the team as a title contender.

Simmons solves major issues for the team – he is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the league. For a team that has too often devolved into isolation, adding an element of creation to the offense would go a long way.

The Celtics are already in the upper half of the league in three-point attempts and Simmons has a proclivity for creating long-range shots for others. He would also help a defensive unit that is currently outside the top 10.

Marcus Smart could theoretically be addition by subtraction in a lot of ways. Sometimes he thinks he should be the one taking the most shots, derailing the offense for the rest of the team. Luckily for the rest of the team, Simmons would never try to do that.
