NBA Trades: One Ben Simmons trade for every NBA team – San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs have been the rehabilitation center for flawed players in recent years. Look at the leap that DeMar DeRozan made in their system before joining the Chicago Bulls as a potential MVP candidate. Simmons would be brought into the perfect developmental situation, given time to figure out the best uses of his game over time.
For the Spurs, they have more young wings than they know what to do with. Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, and Lonnie Walker IV are all 25 or younger. Getting all of them the appropriate number of minutes is a challenge, and that’s without even considering rookie Josh Primo or the slightly older Derrick White. Consolidating their roster could set everyone up for a better developmental curve.
On the side of the Sixers, all three of the players sent back could play a meaningful role in the playoffs. Thaddeus Young has been there before and would find himself back in the rotation full time.
Murray is an elite defensive guard who would be an interesting option on nights where Tyrese Maxey does not have the scoring going. Walker has struggled the most among the aforementioned wing group to get consistent run. Giving him a chance in a new place to capitalize on his potential is a smart play.
