5 superstar NBA players that desperately need help: 1. Luka Doncic

Talk about a man living on another planet. Since entering the league, Luka Doncic has been playing chess, while the rest of the Dallas Mavericks appear to be playing checkers.

Doncic entered the league at exactly the same time as Trae Young. They were even traded for each other on draft night to end up on their respective teams. As a result, the same principles apply here, meaning that there’s still a ton of time ahead for the Dallas Mavericks.

Sometimes, it seems like Luka is in a league of his own. He entered the league, won the Rookie of the Year award, and quickly solidified himself as a bonafide top-10 player in the league. The things he does on the court are pure magic.

He is already 11th in triple-doubles achieved in NBA history! Doing all that by the age of 22 is something that words cannot even begin to explain. Numbers-wise, he is close to averaging a 25 point per game triple-double for his career so far and is the focal point of Jason Kidd’s offense.

Unfortunately, similarly to the other teams above, the Dallas Mavericks do not appear to be willing to make any big roster changes. It is very rare when one player takes his team to the NBA Finals, let alone win the Larry O’Brien trophy.

For Doncic, the only sliver of help on Dallas’ roster is a talented, yet inconsistent and injury-prone, Kristaps Porzingis, who is not looking like a valid second option for this team. He has not managed to replicate the success he had on the New York Knicks, which was the main reason the Mavericks traded for him.

Since LeBron James entered the league, scouts have always looked for “the next LeBron”. NBA players like Andrew Wiggins and Ben Simmons hilariously failed to live up to the expectations, but Luka hasn’t disappointed one bit. The Mavericks should monitor his situation closely and do everything they can to keep him happy for the long haul.
