5 superstar NBA players that desperately need help: 3. Nikola Jokic

As things stand, the league’s reigning Most Valuable Player is looking like he has been left to fend for himself.

In a situation that kind of resembles the one in Atlanta, the Denver Nuggets are lucky enough to possess a talent so unique, that he might be considered the most “untouchable” player across all 30 NBA teams.

Since being drafted by them in the second round, Nikola Jokic has given everything he has to these Nuggets. An MVP trophy, All-NBA appearances, and a trip to the Western Conference Finals, their first since the Carmelo Anthony era.

The return has not been of the same value. Apart from the sudden, yet pleasant, rise of Jamal Murray, who has been a good second option at times, the Nuggets haven’t really tried to add any big-name players to their team. An aging Paul Millsap and an unsettled Aaron Gordon pretty much tell the whole story.

Jokic has more than done his deed so far this year. The rest of the team… not so much. Michael Porter Jr. secured his bag during the offseason after signing a 5-year, $172 million contract, and has proceeded to average an atrocious 9.9 points per game, as of today.

The Nuggets are patiently waiting for Murray to return from his torn ACL injury and are hanging in there in the standings. The truth is, Jokic is way too good for his team, and it won’t be long until he realizes this on his own.
