5 superstar NBA players that desperately need help: 5. Trae Young

The Atlanta Hawks were an obvious case of overachieving last season. Don’t get me wrong, they’re a good team, just not “Eastern Conference Finals” good. Or at least, not yet.

The Hawks possess an elite talent at their hands in Trae Young. It’s not every day that you find a clutch young player that averaged nearly 30 points and 10 assists per game during his sophomore season in the league and can launch three-point bombs from the logo.

On the downside, Atlanta has not done a very good job when it comes to surrounding Trae with the adequate talent to help him get close to the championship.

On a more positive note, though, Young just recently turned 23, meaning that there is still an enormous amount of time for the front office to figure out the best way to utilize his abilities.

So far this year, the Hawks are 8-9 and sitting 11th in the Eastern Conference. Obviously, not many people could actually believe that they will miss out on making the playoffs, but the team looks much worse than last year, which is surprising considering not much changed roster-wise.

John Collins never quite took the leap that many people thought he would take and remains a very mediocre second scoring option. On top of that, both Bogdan Bogdanović and Clint Capela have been poor this season, leaving Trae Young with a heavier load to carry.
