We’re nearly a quarter into the 2021-22 NBA season and the standings are starting to shape up quite nicely. Day by day, night by night, we’re getting a better picture as to which teams are true contenders and which are pure pretenders.

It sure has been one of the most surprising seasons in recent memory so far. Teams that were viewed as alpha dogs are struggling to remain in the playoff picture, which is causing some noticeable frustration amongst their fanbases.

On the opposite side of the matter, there appears to be more than a handful of teams that were ranked amongst the worst teams in the league during the preseason that are now pushing for a playoff spot.

To be fair, the lengthy absence of some of the world’s biggest names has been culpable for this visible havoc in the standings. Kyrie Irving, Zion Williamson, Ben Simmons, and Kawhi Leonard are only the beginning of an endless list of stars missing game time so far.

Whether it has been due to teammates missing or underperforming, some superstars appear to be in desperate need of some help. It’s a shame seeing talent being wasted.

Certain NBA stars look as if they were born to be champions, though sometimes they can’t do everything by themselves. At the end of the day, basketball is, and always will be, a team sport.

Honorable mention No.1: Los Angeles Clippers due to Leonard’s injury

Honorable mention No. 2: Washington Wizards where Bradley Beal was supposed to be alone, though the team is soaring at the moment
