NBA Power Rankings: 27. San Antonio Spurs (4-11)

Last week: (0-3) – @ LAL (L), @ LAC (L), @ MIN (L)

Rank last week: 27

Offensive rating: 105.2 (22nd in NBA)

Defensive rating: 107.2 (14th in NBA)

The San Antonio Spurs have had a pretty rough season this year, capped off by an 0-3 record last week. They had a tough schedule, in fairness, taking on two LA teams.

Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson continue to be the highlights of the season for San Antonio. Johnson has been shooting lights out over the past week.

In what could very well be one of Gregg Popovich’s last seasons, the Spurs don’t look like a very good squad. They do have some veterans on the roster, but the priority is clearly developing their young core.

They have now lost four games in a row and five of the last six games. Ensuring the development of the youth movement has become a priority rather than winning at this point.

Season outlook: There’s always a chance that a Gregg Popovich-coached team could sneak into the playoffs. However, with the way this season has started, that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. The Spurs will probably end up with a top-ten pick in the NBA Draft.
