The Portland Trail Blazers have been struggling to put things together this season. Damian Lillard has been having issues scoring the ball, and the team as a whole just looks rough.

In recent years, it has become common knowledge that the Trail Blazers aren’t a great defensive team. This year is no different, as they have a bottom-six defense in the league.

Taking into account their organizational drama, many have begun to question how long this team can stay together. If they do want to win a title with this current core, something has to change.

What trades can the team do to help Lillard get a ring in Portland? Which players around the league would be able to help them secure their second-ever NBA championship?

NBA trades to help the Portland Trail Blazers improve: Ben Simmons

Trail Blazers receive: Ben Simmons

76ers receive: CJ McCollum, 2026 First-Round Pick (Lottery Protected)

Let’s start out with the obvious. This trade has been thrown around in rumors since the end of last season, and it could still make a lot of sense for the team

Their main issue has always been on the defensive side of the floor, and Ben Simmons would obviously help with that. Losing CJ McCollum hurts because of how well he’s played this season, but sometimes changes are necessary.

Simmons would be the defensive stopper that the Trail Blazers desperately need. In addition, Anfernee Simons could take on a larger offensive role and help make up for the loss of McCollum.

Meanwhile, the 76ers would get another All-Star-caliber player to help them in their quest for a championship. It may be a controversial trade, but it could work out for the best.
