Ben Simmons is still on the Philadelphia 76ers, yet he has still not touched the court this season. When will this long-standing drama inevitably end?

Well, from the way things are going, not for a long, long time. Sam Amick of The Athletic recently published an article (subscription required) detailing the entire saga and attempting to pinpoint when it will end.

Based on Amick’s sources and personal thoughts based on observation, this is not just a one-year ordeal. This situation could drag on for many years as Philadelphia attempts to find a worthy trade.

Philadelphia 76ers have a list of 30 players they would trade Ben Simmons for

What trades would they deem to be worthy, one might ask. Well, according to Amick’s sources, the team has a list of around 30 players who they would be willing to trade Simmons for.

That may seem like a lot at first glance, but in the grand scheme of things, it’s really not. Considering some of the players on that list might be untouchable players according to their organization, that’s not a long list at all.

Amick went on to list a few players who the Philadelphia 76ers have near the top of their list. Among them, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers, James Harden of the Brooklyn Nets, and Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards.

While some of the guys on their list may be realistic options, players such as Harden probably are not. That’s where that magic number of 30 starts to really dwindle down.

Simmons has been sitting out due to mental health concerns. Both he and his agent Rich Paul have expressed their disappointment in the 76ers organization for fining Simmons for not playing, claiming that it is worsening his mental health.

Amick also touched on the notion of the league stepping in. However, based on his thoughts, the NBA would much rather leave this situation in the hands of Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers.

So, while this doesn’t add too much new information to the fray, Amick did let the world know that there is a list out there. Who are the Philadelphia 76ers targeting in a Ben Simmons trade?
