Ranking all 30 NBA jerseys: 5. Miami Heat

The Miami Heat are up there with Portland, Utah, and Golden State for the best logos in the NBA. Bonus points because “Heat”, while an abstract concept, absolutely fits for Miami, and it becomes less abstract when you see the flaming basketball go through the hoop. Also, it must be pretty hot if the “T” in Heat is on fire!

Double those bonus points because the Heat’s colors are red, white, and yellow, colors we all associate with heat. Even the black jersey gives off a charcoal vibe. The white jersey is by far the best. It looks like there are heat waves rolling off of it, and it only gets better when Duncan Robinson hits three triples in a row, or Jimmy Butler starts cooking with his midrange jumper.

The Heat have an “MH” logo that is fairly blah, but thankfully, it’s relegated to the waistband for the white and black looks, moved to the shorts only for the red Statement Edition. When they do put “Miami” on the chest it looks great, but I would probably want it to say Heat (with the flourish on the T!) for all of them.

Shout out for the simply sublime Miami Vice jerseys, too, which should somehow be kept alive forever. Bring them back! Bring them back!

Wife Take: What is on the shorts? [I pulled up a larger picture of their logo]. I always thought the Heat was a really dumb name for a basketball team [remember she is a Cavs fan from Ohio] but seeing that logo, it’s less dumb. If you’re going to have a dumb name you need a way to sell it, and that logo helps you out.
