Ranking all 30 NBA jerseys: 6. Boston Celtics
If you’re looking for a historical NBA look, you have landed in the right place. The Boston Celtics have a look fairly similar to what they had back in the 1950s and 60s when Bill Russell led the franchise to 11 titles in 13 seasons. Check out this cross-section of Boston greats – you don’t reinvent the wheel.
The green is decidedly theirs, and it looks great paired with black or white, Boston’s three color combinations. On both the main green and white versions, they have stripes down the shorts that bracket them on the bottom; it’s the same idea as around the arms above. It’s a nice touch.
The Celtics also deserve credit for not having any duds in the rotation, which couldn’t be said in every season. Last year, their most-worn jersey was this one, a white jersey modeled after the banners hanging in the rafters. It just doesn’t work, and it works less if you’ve never been to a game and seen the banners before. More props for not having gray either.
Wife Take: Everyone knows that the Celtics are “Irish” and “green” and this is a good nod to the heritage without being obnoxious.
