Ranking all 30 NBA jerseys: 10. Utah Jazz

Everything with the Utah Jazz and their jerseys starts and ends with their team name and logo. It obviously makes no sense for the team to be called the “Jazz” when they play home games in Salt Lake City, Utah.

If we were being logical, they would change their name to something related to Utah’s gorgeous national parks and lean into a color palette of desert sunset colors.

The problem is that the Jazz have one of the best names in the league, and they may have the best logo in the league. The idea of basketball as “Jazz” – both the idea of composing music on the court and of Jazz as this improvisational love song that perfectly matches what a team does on the court – is perfect, and the Jazz can’t possibly give that up. The music note “J” is so perfect it could make you tear up just looking at it.

The navy Jazz Icon jersey (above) has a gorgeous color combination and features the J-Note prominently. (Side note: ditch the green, Jazz marketing team). The white is equally sharp, including the ball featured in the musical note logo on the waistband of the shorts. The all-gold Statement jersey is fine, but the J-Note looks better when it’s spelling out the word “Jazz” on the jersey.

Wife Take: This is the best one so far. It looks like a music note, but it’s part of the name. You can see the name clearly, the colors contrast nicely, and I love their logo. But where are the Jazz from? [Utah]. Well, that makes no sense. Who thinks of Jazz in Utah?
