Ranking all 30 NBA jerseys: 22. Orlando Magic

Look at the jerseys in the above picture. What is going on? I get that the black blocks are supposed to invoke pinstripes from classic Orlando looks of the past, but….why not just use pinstripes?

The lines under the arms look especially dumb. The lines on the shorts aren’t as bad, and the side view (Jalen Suggs above) actually pops nicely with that bold star. The jersey itself is rough, though.

Their white jersey has pinstripes, which is nice, and they chose a light silver so the pattern is subtle but presumably catches arena lights nicely when you’re in person. I like that choice, and “Magic” is a word that always looks sharp on the front of a jersey.

The Orlando Magic have a black pinstriped look, the “Icon” version, which is fine. It looks clean and the pinstripes, now in blue, are again subtle, which is best for pinstripes unless you’re the New York Yankees.

The reason the Magic are as high as 22 is that they don’t have any orange uniforms in their primary rotation. If this was still around they might be as low as 30th.

Wife Take: Who thinks “you know what, we should put a star on the side buttocks? That’s where we want our fans to look.” Pinstripes are for referees. Are they trying to communicate they know more than the refs?
