The Indiana Pacers started off this season ice cold, but have started to pick things up recently. After a 1-6 start to the season, they have gone 5-2 in their last seven games.

In that stretch, they have managed to take down teams such as the New York Knicks, Utah Jazz, and Philadelphia 76ers. They haven’t all been easy wins for Indiana.

Malcolm Brogdon has been the one leading the way in their last seven games. He is averaging 21.3 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists during that stretch.

Myles Turner (16.9 points, 3.9 blocks), Caris LeVert (16.6 points), and Domantas Sabonis (15.7 points) are right behind him in the scoring column in the last seven games. The Pacers have three other players averaging in the double digits, too.

Should the Indiana Pacers look to make a trade soon?

Despite all this, it’s hard to argue that this team is a bonafide playoff roster. They have a lot of talent, but so does the rest of the Eastern Conference.

For the past several years, the Indiana Pacers have been a solid playoff team. Nothing more, nothing less (outside of last year when they got eliminated in the play-in tournament).

This team seems to be completely fine with just being average. While it’s not fun to tank, and this team probably doesn’t need to, it’s also not very fun being in the middle of the pack every year. At least, from a fan’s perspective that is.

So, is it time for the Indiana Pacers to make a trade? The answer to that question is in the eye of the beholder, to be quite honest because a coaching change clearly wasn’t enough to make this team a playoff threat.

If you’re a fan who wants to see them make a push for a title, then yes, the Pacers probably do have to shake things up a bit. However, if you’re someone who just wants to watch solid basketball, then this team is perfectly fine.

Sooner or later, though, something is going to have to budge in Indiana. If they ever want to make a run at their first NBA championship in franchise history, they can’t continue on this path of mediocrity.
