New York Knicks: 3 players who deserve more playing time
3 New York Knicks players who deserve more playing time: Alec Burks
He may not be a flashy player, or the type of guy to constantly make the headlines, but the addition of Alec Burks to the New York Knicks in 2020 has proved to be a very underrated one, especially given his contract.
Burks was one of the key reasons behind the team’s triumph of a season in 2020-21. He averaged 12.7 points per game on 41.5 percent shooting from behind the arc and spent 25.6 minutes per game on the court.
However, the big-money addition of Evan Fournier has limited his minutes on the court. So far this season, he’s been averaging just under 20 minutes per game, despite shooting an even better 42.3 percent from three-point range.
Burks is such an important energy boost. Usually subbing off either Fournier or Barrett. The team’s tempo becomes instantly faster with him handling and/or shooting the ball.
In these opening 13 games, Burks has a plus/minus of +43, which all but enhances his case for being worthy of some more playing time. He is a key part of this incredible Bench Mob that the Knicks have created. At the end of the day, it just seems like he may be sitting on the bench a little bit too often.
