Week 4 NBA Power Rankings: 27. San Antonio Spurs (4-8)

29. . 4-8. Previous: 25th. San Antonio Spurs. 27. team

Last week: (1-2) – @ OKC (L), vs. SAC (W), vs. DAL (L)

Offensive rating: 107.3 (16th in NBA)

Defensive rating: 106.2 (12th in NBA)

The San Antonio Spurs are, unfortunately, not going to be a playoff team for the final years of Gregg Popovich’s career. They just don’t have the talent to get there right now.

Their one win this past week was a blowout over the Kings, but they also lost to the Thunder. It’s just been a very rocky season so far for San Antonio.

Despite that, Dejounte Murray has looked great this year. He’s playing like a guy who could be the face of that franchise for a long time, and he has some solid pieces around him.

Jakob Poeltl was playing well, too, but he’s had to miss some time due to health and safety protocols. Drew Eubanks has stepped nicely in his place, though.

Season outlook: Tanking has never been in the Spurs playbook. Popovich won’t do it, and the organization probably doesn’t like doing it, either. However, with the way this team is looking this year, they are probably almost certainly going to be a lottery team.
