Week 4 NBA Power Rankings: 2. Brooklyn Nets (9-4)
Last week: (3-1) – @ TOR (W), @ CHI (L), @ ORL (W), @ NOP (W)
Offensive rating: 107.1 (17th in NBA)
Defensive rating: 104.1 (6th in NBA)
The Brooklyn Nets are finally looking like the team many people believed they would be. Well, outside of the fact that Kyrie Irving probably won’t be playing this season.
Beyond that, the team has looked great recently. The main reason behind that fact is that Kevin Durant is playing like the MVP of the league right now.
His shooting splits are absolutely ridiculous, and he’s leading the league in scoring, too. James Harden has finally begun to pick things up, too, after a slow start.
Not many would have pegged the Nets to be a defensive-minded team, but based on their stats it sure looks like they are. While Durant and Harden carry the offense, everyone else clamps up.
Season outlook: The Nets are 100 percent a title contender. With Durant playing this well and Harden just doing his thing, they should be the favorites to come out of the East. Barring any serious injuries, Brooklyn should be able to make a very deep playoff run.
