Week 4 NBA Power Rankings: 11. Dallas Mavericks (8-4)

Last week: (2-1) – vs. NOP (W), @ CHI (L), vs. DET (W), @ SAS (W)

Offensive rating: 106.2 (21st in NBA)

Defensive rating: 108.0 (19th in NBA)

The Dallas Mavericks are one of the more intriguing teams in the NBA right now. Neither their offense nor their defense looks great, but yet they are still winning games.

A lot of it has to do with the play of Luka Doncic. He isn’t even putting up crazy good numbers for his standards, but his talent alone has been enough to will them to wins.

He has looked good this past week, though, and so has Kristaps Porzingis. Both got off to slow starts but are finally starting to find their footing.

Jalen Brunson has also continued to shine, while Tim Hardaway Jr. is starting to shoot more efficiently as well. This offense has too many weapons for them to be struggling too much on that end.

Season outlook: For as long as Doncic is on the team, the Mavericks will have championship aspirations. Whether or not those aspirations are valid is another question. The Mavs should be a quality playoff team this year and will hope to get out of the first round with Doncic for the first time.
