NBA Power Rankings Week 4: Race to the top is heating up
By Jack Simone
Week 4 NBA Power Rankings: 14. Boston Celtics (6-7)
Last week: (1-3) – vs. TOR (W), vs. MIL (W), @ CLE (L)
Offensive rating: 104.9 (22nd in NBA)
Defensive rating: 104.7 (9th in NBA)
After a very rough start to the season, the Boston Celtics have been picking things up lately. They went 2-1 last week with their only loss coming in ugly fashion to the Cavaliers.
They blew a nearly 20-point lead to the Cavs, but other than that they have been playing great basketball. With Jaylen Brown sidelined, they have managed to find new ways to win.
Dennis Schroder has been stepping up in a big way. He dropped 38 points in their overtime with vs. the Bucks and followed it up with another big-timer performance vs. Cleveland.
Defense has been leading the way for the C’s lately, though. They’ve been a top-three defensive team in the entire league over this past week.
Season outlook: This team had quietly been dealing with some injuries this year, but they should still be a playoff team. There were some concerns early on, but they are finally figuring things out. If they can keep up this level of defensive play, they should definitely be a playoff team.
