NBA Power Rankings Week 4: Race to the top is heating up
By Jack Simone
Week 4 NBA Power Rankings: 16. New York Knicks (7-6)
Last week: (2-2) – @ WAS (L), @ PHI (W), vs. MIL (L), @ CHA (L)
Offensive rating: 110.0 (5th in NBA)
Defensive rating: 109.7 (25th in NBA)
The New York Knicks have been going through it as of late. After a solid start to the season, they have now lost five of their last seven games.
They’ve been playing some stiff competition, but that’s how the league is nowadays. One week of struggles can be the difference between the three seed and the ten seed right now.
New additions Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier have been struggling lately shooting-wise. That’s been a killer for a Knicks team who relies upon their shooting on a nightly basis.
Their defense has been slacking, too, as they’ve been a bottom-ten defense this past week. Pair that with their bottom-five offense in the past week, and it’s not a nice combination.
Season outlook: After a trip to the playoffs last year followed by two key offseason additions, the Knicks came into this season with lofty goals. While they have been sliding in the standings lately, they should still certainly be a playoff team by the time the postseason rolls around.
