NBA player rankings week 4: 4. Jimmy Butler

Jimmy Butler has looked great this season, even though his team plays a very well-rounded style of basketball. A lot of players are getting chances to score, yet he stills stands out among the rest.

Team success: Early on, the Miami Heat looked like the best team in the NBA. However, they have cooled off, no pun intended, recently, dropping their last three games.

This places them at 7-5 on the year, tied for fifth in the Eastern Conference. However, while other players on the team continue to struggle, Butler has looked great this year.

Player stats: Butler is averaging 23.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game this season. He’s shooting 52.7 percent from the field and 29.4 percent from range.

The veteran forward is playing great on the defensive end as well, per usual. He’s nabbing 2.1 steals per game and is a nuisance on the perimeter.

Reason for rank: There’s an argument to be made that he should be lower on this list, but that’s just because the Heat have been struggling lately. That doesn’t detract too much from how incredible Butler has been.

He’s putting up close to career-high scoring numbers and making an impact on both ends of the floor. Butler deserves to be in the top five on this list.
