NBA player rankings week 4: 8. Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo took home Finals MVP last year and won two consecutive MVPs in the years prior. Based on that, he should be higher on this list, but right now he is not.

Team success: The Milwaukee Bucks started off the season rough, and currently sit at 6-7. However, that isn’t Antetokounmpo’s fault at all.

Every single starter for the Bucks has missed significant time this year, and even Antetokounmpo is dealing with a sprained ankle right now. Other than that, though, he’s been putting the team on his back in a big way.

Player stats: Antetokounmpo is putting up 26.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 6.0 assists per game this year. He is shooting 49.6 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from range.

The Greek big man is also averaging 1.1 steals and 1.8 blocks per game. His field goal percentage is way down from previous seasons, but the same can be said for most players around the league.

Reason for rank: Considering the fact that Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday have both missed around half of Milwaukee’s games, Antetokounmpo leading them to a decent record is pretty impressive. He has gotten some help from Grayson Allen (15.4 points) though.

Antetokounmpo is still one of the best in the business. The Bucks will turn things around eventually, and when they do, he will shoot up this list.
