Potential NBA trades for this season: Myles Turner trade to the Dallas Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks receive: Myles Turner, Brad Wanamaker

Indiana Pacers receive: Dwight Powell, Josh Green, Sterling Brown, 2024 First-Round Pick (Top 10 Protected)

The Dallas Mavericks are bottom-ten in the NBA when it comes to opponent’s points in the paint per game. Trading for an elite shot-blocker such as Myles Turner would be a no-brainer for them.

Turner averaged over three blocks per game last season and is doing it once again this year. He could help transform Dallas’ defensive game with his presence.

In addition, he’s someone who can still space the floor for Luka Doncic on the offensive end. The Mavs need as many shooters around their superstar as possible.

Meanwhile, the Indiana Pacers are stuck in the middle. Outside of last year, they are a consistent playoff team, but just can’t ever seem to get to that next level.

Well, this year has been no different. They have been super disappointing so far this season and it is clear now more than ever that it’s time for a chance.

Dealing Turner would allow Domantas Sabonis to become the full-time center and live in the paint. The Pacers could also play a little bit smaller and give some of their young wings more opportunities.

In this deal, they would be getting Josh Green (20 years old) and Sterling Brown (26 years old) who still have the potential to turn into quality players. The draft pick would help add to their young core as well.

Both teams seem to need a switch-up, and this deal would do just that. Pacers fans may not love it, but with the way things are going this season, it might be time to invest in a new crop of young guys.
