Week 3 NBA power rankings: 6. Brooklyn Nets
Last week: (3-0) – vs. DET (W), vs. ATL (W), @ DET (W)
Offensive rating: 104.0 (21st in NBA)
Defensive rating: 102.8 (5th in NBA)
After a poor start to the season, the Brooklyn Nets are finally beginning to turn things around. Albeit, still without point guard Kyrie Irving, but things are turning around nonetheless.
Kevin Durant is playing out of his mind this season and it just seems like the guy can’t miss. Well, that is something he’s done throughout his career, but this just seems like he’s taking things up a notch.
James Harden is also finally breaking out of his slump. He’s another one of the many players who was heavily affected by the NBA’s new rule changes.
This is another case where a team that is known for one part of their game (offense) is actually getting things done on the other end (defense) instead. Their 3-0 week last week helps them jump up a couple of spots in the rankings this week.
Season outlook: With Durant and Harden leading the way, the ceiling for this team will always be an NBA championship. Adding Irving to that mix would definitely help, but it’s not really a necessity. They’ll have to work harder without him, but this team can still compete for a title.
