NBA: Most likely first time All-Stars from each team: Indiana Pacers – Malcolm Brogdon
Coming up with a player on each team that will make his first All-Star Game is pretty difficult. But, there are a few exceptions where it’s actually easy.
Malcolm Brogdon is already All-Star material. This past season, Brogdon was viewed as somewhat of an All-Star snub. After all, he did average 21.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists for the Indiana Pacers.
There were two issues for Brogdon last season. For starters, he played with another All-Star in Domantas Sabonis. Also, Brogdon missed a ton of games due to injury. If the former Rookie of the Year can stay out of the medical room, he should be able to grab his first All-Star nod.
The biggest obstacle for Brogdan will be the Pacers’ ability to win games. With a stacked Eastern Conference this season, the Pacers could find themselves near the bottom of the heap. If, however, they exceed expectations, Brogdon will be a huge reason why. He’s a knockdown shooter from distance, nailing at 38% in four of his five seasons in the league. Brogdon is also pretty good at setting up teammates. Prior to last season, he averaged a career best 7.1 a night.
It won’t be easy for him to get selected, but if he plays his normal game and the Pacers pick up more wins, he’ll be in the mix.
