NBA: Most likely first time All-Stars from each team: Portland Trail Blazers – CJ McCollum
How did CJ McCollum not make an All-Star team yet? Seriously, he’s put up terrific numbers year after year and the Portland Trail Blazers, for the most part, have won a ton of games.
There are a number of players on this list that will need to produce career highs across the board to have a shot at making an All-Star team this year. McCollum isn’t one of them. Just last season, the smooth shooting guard averaged 23.1 points per game in his sleep.
The Blazers have made the postseason every season since McCollum has joined the starting lineup full time. Here’s the issue for McCollum, he isn’t as good as his superstar teammate Damian Lillard. But does he really have to be?
If McCollum can simply continue what he’s always done, meaning, drop over 20 points a game effortlessly, (currently he’s pouring in over 26 a night) he should finally be able to join Lillard in the backcourt at this year’s All-Star Game. Before he hears his name called as a first-time selection, the Blazers are going to have to focus on winning. McCollum already has the numbers that say he’s All-Star material.
