Blocks: Robert Williams

Wrapping up the predictions for major statistical leaders are blocks. The center position is currently the biggest hole in the Celtics’ very well-rounded roster. However, Robert Williams may end up taking a huge step this season if he is given enough of an opportunity to do so.

Williams spent some time starting at the center position last season and for such a young player, he did a very good job. While he expectedly struggled against top centers like Joel Embiid, he played his role very well and did exactly what he needed to do.

He plays a very traditional style of basketball for a center. In the past, he has not been very effective on the offensive end outside of 5-10 feet, however, last season he ended up shooting 64.3% from 10-16 feet away from the basket.

One aspect of his game that has not swayed away from a traditional center however comes on the glass and defensive end.

As previously mentioned, depending on where they end up in the rotation for the majority of the year, there could be a battle for the top rebounder on the team between Williams and Kanter.

However, in terms of blocks, there is no comparison. Williams led the Celtics in blocks last season with 1.8 per game and that is a number we could very well see rise this season.

Williams is still a very young player and only getting better every season. It will be very exciting to watch him on the defensive end this season.
