Steals: Marcus Smart

Marcus Smart is one of if not the best defensive players on the Boston Celtics and has been for years. He has led the Celtics in steals per game for the past five seasons.

This is something that likely will not change this season. With Walker being moved from the team, Smart will be playing a bigger role than ever.

While his responsibilities will likely not greatly increase on the offensive end of the floor, he and Jaylen Brown will be tasked with shutting down perimeter players on the opposing team through the length of the season.

Smart is an on-ball pest. He is one of the most frustrating players to play against in the entire NBA. His high energy style of play, knowing where to be at all times, and ability to draw offensive fouls make perimeter players dread facing off against the Celtics.

He is the definition of a three and d player and he plays this role extremely well on the Celtics. Smart always has an impact on the game when he is on the floor, whether it shows up in the stat sheet or not.

His name has been floated around in some trade rumors already, but if he is able to remain on the team throughout the entirety of the season, he will likely lead the Boston Celtics in steals for the 6th consecutive season.
