Odds of every NBA team winning 2021-22 title: New Orleans Pelicans +10000

The New Orleans Pelicans can only live on the word “potential” but for so long.

The young upstart group is led by Zion Williamson, a player who does whatever he wants in the paint. Although he’s exceedingly dominant on the block, Williamson has the perfect secondary player by his side in former All-Star Brandon Ingram.

The lanky forward destroys the opposition on the perimeter, while Williamson does his thing on the inside. But the problem for the New Orleans Pelicans is, that’s all they got.

Outside of Williamson and Ingram, no one else is a reliable scorer and creator. Not only do they need more capable bodies but Williamson can seemingly never stay healthy. Even now, he won’t play the first few games of the season due to undergoing foot surgery in the offseason.

The Western Conference is deep, ruthless, and almost impossible to navigate. As we saw from day one, even the Los Angeles Lakers aren’t a complete lock to win it all this year. The Pelicans are going to need their two stars to score more than ever before and get their teammate’s wide-open shots in the process.

Williamson might be considered a star, appearing in just about every NBA commercial, but unless they completely overhaul the roster, the Pelicans won’t be going anywhere.
