Ranking the 75 best players in NBA history: No. 58 – Anthony Davis

Career: 2012 – present

Achievements: 2020 NBA Champion; All-NBA (4x); All-Star (8x); All-Defense (4x); three-time blocks leader

Anthony Davis came into the league as the most heralded first overall pick since LeBron James, and he has not disappointed. Defensively he is the epitome of a modern big man, with elite shot-blocking prowess (he led the league in blocks three times) and the speed and agility to defend out to the perimeter.

Offensively he is more of a dependent talent than a true top option, which limited the ceiling of his teams in New Orleans. That changed when he joined the Los Angeles Lakers and could be the co-star to LeBron James, and in his first season there the Lakers brought home the title.

Davis is a perennial All-Defense candidate and should continue to add to his career accolades over the next few seasons as a prominent star on a title contender on the league’s most popular team. If he stays healthy over the next decade he could skyrocket up this list, especially if the Lakers win another title over the next few seasons.
