Ranking the 25 best NBA sidekicks of all time: 4. Stephen Curry

Whether it’s in Oklahoma City, the Bay Area, or currently, in Brooklyn, New York – if Kevin Durant is on the team, he’s going to be the best player.

Even with Stephen Curry winning two league MVP awards, one unanimously, a scoring title, an NBA title, as well receiving several All-NBA and All-Star Game selections, he simply had no choice but to cede the reins of the Warriors to Durant once he came along at the beginning of the 2016-17 season.

Curry wasn’t your traditional secondary star. As previously stated, he had a truckload of awards well before Durant arrived. Even with the “Slim Reaper” on the squad, Curry actually averaged more points: 26.3 to 25.8. But make no mistake about it, Curry was certainly the secondary option.

Outside of shooting, Durant was the better overall player. With his arrival, the Warriors won back-to-back titles and Durant was named Finals MVPs in both years.

Despite the overwhelming level of success that the Warriors would ultimately have due to Durant – Curry will always be Golden State’s favorite homegrown son.
