Possible trade Timberwolves trade partners for Karl-Anthony Towns: 1. Golden State Warriors

This is the grand trade package being floated across the league for any potential star that may shake loose. The Golden State Warriors are saying all of the right things about wanting to fuse the young players with their stars nearing the end of their primes, but if a player such as Towns were to become available the trigger finger of Joe Lacob would have to start to tingle.

James Wiseman was up and down for last season but profiles as a dominant big man in today’s game given time. Jonathan Kuminga slid in the draft and then wowed the world at Summer League. Given that he is the pick that the Wolves should have been making had they not traded with the Warriors previously, bringing that full circle as part of the core around Edwards is enticing. Moses Moody is young but has elite defense and shooting chops. He would compliment the young core well while growing alongside them.

Moving on from Wiggins is feeling imperative for the Warriors given his hesitance to comply with the local mandate regarding the vaccine. He is also an essential salary filler for the trade to work. A reunion with the Minnesota Timberwolves and their former max player may be tenuous, but bringing in three blue-chip prospects should help assuage that. If not, the Warriors have all of their picks to sweeten the pot (aside from their 2024 first-rounder) should that be deemed necessary.
