Despite being a team in a state of disarray thanks to the Ben Simmons situation, the Philadelphia 76ers are still a really good team. As long as they have Joel Embiid and the rest of their starting lineup, they are going to be a contender in the Eastern Conference.

They have been building to this stage since they started The Process back in the early part of last decade. The fans had to go through a lot of pain to get where they are today. However, the Simmons situation is putting that in jeopardy.

As a result, they are looking at starting the season a player down, and a significant one at that. This could mean that their statistical leaders are different from the previous season. Let’s take a look at what these changes may look like.

Philadelphia 76ers statistical leaders – Scoring: Joel Embiid
Predicted Average: 32.5

The 76ers offense has revolved around Embiid since he has been healthy in the league. Simmons has always been the playmaker, but without Embiid as the centerpiece, he is just an incredibly gifted, yet flawed basketball player.

Embiid showed that during the playoffs that if he is not fully healthy, then the 76ers struggle. He now has a point to prove after being unceremoniously dumped out of the playoffs last season at the hands of the upstart Atlanta Hawks. His meniscus tear really took its toll as the series wore on.

There is not much more that he can do in terms of carrying the offense. The only way to slow Embiid is to double team him which is a risky strategy because he can still score and pass his way out of trouble.

The 76ers have not adjusted their roster much over the offseason, barring a Simmons trade. Embiid will try and take more of the offensive load on his shoulders but as he already averaged 28.5 points per game last season, he will not be able to step it up too much more, 4.0 points per game is not too far out of the realms of what is possible.
