Star player that will be back in the NBA’s Conference Finals: Kevin Durant

Despite losing Spencer Dinwiddie to a torn ACL just three games into the season, James Harden missing 23 games, and Kevin Durant being limited to 35 games, the Brooklyn Nets finished the regular season with the second-best record in the conference and came within two inches of reaching the NBA Finals.

Coming off an Achilles tear, Durant was sensational whenever he was on the court but never was he more dominant than in the playoffs. With both Harden and Kyrie Irving out, KD put the team on his back, pushing the eventual NBA Champion Milwaukee Bucks to the brink of elimination. He put on a masterful performance in game seven, posting 48 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists while playing every second of regulation and overtime.

Irving and KD have already experienced what it’s like to win an NBA title. Still, Harden, Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Paul Millsap have been chasing that elusive ring for over a decade now, and Patty Mills hasn’t tasted victory in the NBA since 2014. Entering his second season as an NBA head coach, Steve Nash never won a title during his 18-year playing career. This Brooklyn squad is talented and hungry for a Larry O’Brien trophy.

The Brooklyn Big Three are looking to run it back this year, and now they’ll have an entire season with Griffin as well as Nicolas Claxton and Aldridge in the fold. They also added more reinforcements this off-season improving their depth and adding even more offensive punch.

The Nets are currently the title favorites as they prepare for training camp to get underway. WynnBET has them as +225 to win the 2022 NBA Finals with the Los Angeles Lakers as a close second at +375. As long as Kevin Durant is leading the way, don’t expect that projection to change.
