Dallas Mavericks bold prediction: 2. Luka wins MVP

While he has been in the conversation at some points in his young career, this is the year Luka Doncic finally takes home the MVP.

Coming off of 27.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game on .479/.350 shooting splits in 2021, Luka can top those stats with an even better 2021-22 campaign. The difference this season? Luka is going to affect winning even more.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Luka throw up a casual triple-double while leading the Mavericks to a top-4 seed in the west. While the Mavericks have had successful seasons, they haven’t been considered a top team in the western conference. If the Mavericks can become true contenders or at least threats to make a deep playoff run, the case for Luka to be MVP will be easy to make.

We have seen him get better with each season and that certainly won’t change this year. A short offseason hurt the 22-year-old as he didn’t report to training camp in the best shape since many didn’t expect to start the regular season in December.

Even with a slow start, the Luka MVP-train was chugging along once he found his footing. If Luka and the Mavericks come out of the gates hot, he should be in the conversation all season long.

The Slovenian product hasn’t even scratched the prime of his career yet, and this season could mark the first MVP award of many for Doncic.
