Boston Celtics: An early look at how the BOS rotation will play out
Boston Celtics center- Al Horford
With Al Horford back on the team, it’s almost guaranteed that he’ll be on the court more often than not with the young secondary group. He’ll definitely have his time with the starters, however, his level of experience and ability to direct is what Stevens was looking to add this summer more than anything.
Horford is one of the best facilitating centers in the league. We see how well the offense runs through Robert Williams at the center position. At one point, a few years back, it was the same situation with Horford on the Boston Celtics. It worked well on those young Celtics teams, which made Brad Stevens go out and re-acquire Horford.
Having Horford back on the team is one thing. But having him come off the bench to work with the second unit is going to be invaluable for the Celtics this season. Horford could be exactly what the Celtics have needed to bridge the gap and to enhance the team chemistry.
It’s worth mentioning that both Horford and Udoka were with Philadelphia in 2019 and that Horford has an idea of the type of coach Udoka is poised to be.
