Steps for the Milwaukee Bucks to repeat as champs: 1. Force defenses to guard Giannis

To suggest that the reigning Finals MVP could fly under the radar sounds ridiculous. However, although he is fresh off of the best performance in a Finals clinching game in recent memory, not enough emphasis can be put on the importance of the role Giannis Antetokounmpo plays in Milwaukee’s success.

Prior to his incredible NBA Finals performance, “The Greek Freak” was impressive in the Eastern Conference semi-finals against the Brooklyn Nets. In that all-important Game 7, Antetokounmpo scored 40 points without attempting a single 3-pointer. Although Giannis is talented enough to knock down the occasional 3-point attempt, taking those shots amounts to bailing out the defense. In Game 7 against Brooklyn, Antetokounmpo “figured it out.” If he continues to play that way next season, he will be unstoppable and so will the Bucks.

NBA teams haven’t played a single regular-season game and fans are already making playoff predictions. It’s entirely too early, but sports fans have been jumping to conclusions since the days of the Roman Coliseum. The Milwaukee Bucks have everything they need in order to bring home another title next season. If they utilize their roster properly, play to their strengths, and make the proper adjustments, the Deer District could once again be the scene of an epic championship celebration.
