Chicago Bulls free agency signing No. 3: Alex Caruso

In four seasons Alex Caruso has taken himself from being a seldom-used bench player to a key piece of the second unit of a championship team. He was a part of the Los Angeles Lakers championship team from the bubble in the 2020 season.

However, due to the Lakers looking at some older veterans, Caruso was squeezed out of the team due to salary cap pressure. There is no way that the Lakers could have offered Caruso a four-year, $37.0 million deal which is what he secured with the Chicago Bulls.

Caruso is a true spark player off the bench. He can light up the team with a dunk or a chase-down block. He has that true X-factor that every team needs. He also has the ability to space the floor, given that he has shot the ball over 40 percent for two of his four seasons.

Caruso has the chance to impart some of his championship experience with the rest of the team. He also has the ability in the Bulls system to carve out a greater role than he had with the Lakers. It is going to be interesting to see how much of a role given the players the Bulls have added over the last couple of seasons.

Grade: C+
