Predicting the stat leaders for the Miami Heat in 2020-21

After making the NBA Finals in 2020, the Miami Heat have added a few more pieces that’ll help their championship run. Let’s see if any new faces will lead them in any statistical categories.

Heat points per game leader: Jimmy Butler

The sunshine and hot weather associated with Miami have taken Jimmy Butler’s game to an entirely new level. The mercurial small forward has always been a 20 point per game scorer but he’s really been pushed to the forefront in terms of being a true leader.

For the past two seasons, Butler has led the Heat in points per game, averaging 19.9 and 21.5 respectively. Heading into his third year, Butler will have more competition in that department. Kyle Lowry, who was recently added to their ball club this past offseason, is a player who can drop 20 in his sleep. Provided Victor Oladipo is healthy and can finally return to form, he’ll have something to say about leading the Heat in points per game as well.

We also can’t forget about Bam Adebayo, who checked in at second on the squad last season, averaging 18.7 points a night. Even with the added help, Butler will find a way to lead the Heat in buckets.

Heat rebounds per game leader: Bam Adebayo

Rebounding should fall squarely on the shoulder of Adebayo. And while he took a bit of a step back last season, going from 10.2 the year before to 9.0, the Heat aren’t the biggest team so he’ll be able to clean up the glass at a decent rate.

Heat assists per game leader: Kyle Lowry

Despite wearing a new uniform, Lowry will find his place as the team’s best and most effective playmaker. For the past 11 seasons, Lowry has led his ball clubs in assists. Don’t expect to change here. Lowry is a pass-first point guard, despite having the ability to set fire to the net. He’ll want to get comfortable in his new environment and that means he’ll set the table for them all season long.
